Heading to the St Anthony dunes this weekend with my family and a few friends. Gotta take my freshly piped 04 shee out to dust a few thumpers. Four strokes just can't handle the big steep dunes at St A too well. I like the Oregon dunes, thats a good place for a family vacation....mild temps and just a kick to ride the beaches and the trails. But for some serious hill climbs I don't think there is much out there thats better or at least closer for me.

St A is a pretty big area several miles long and close to 2 miles wide in a few areas.

My buddy and I have to put a couple guys and their YFZ 450's in there place...They have never rode a shee and they think their piped 450's are the fast things around! :jesterlaugh:

Defintely race them up the hills. Thumpers do much better in the flats than they do hill shooting. I've seen some piped raptors not make it up choke while piped banshees pull the hill no problem. High rpm torque is what makes two strokes climb shit better than them thumpers.

St anthony kicks. Anyone going to be there saturday?  :headbang:

Me and Oilsmoke will be there friday afternoon.

I just noticed your location. Lucky bastard.

One thing though...how much does it snow there in the winter??? I've wondered if anyone ever takes a sled out in to the dunes in the winter.

I know it can get brutally cold at night in october. Thats about the latest I'll go is the first week of october.

EDIT

Here's my banshee for reference:

A small group of us are coming over from Nampa Saturday morning. We will probably grab a bite at Sonic around noon or so, then head out to the dunes. Probably ride again Sunday am before heading back.

HEHEHE I love being 15 mins. away from those babies. I'm soo excited to go tommorrow, but theres no way you could ride a sled out there, the cornices are like 50 feet so unless you have balls don't try it. And lemme know when you head out there again cause I'm so damn sick of school all I do is sit there and think about riding. LATER :headbang:

There actually hasnt been very much snow fall there for 5 or 6 years. the problem with riding the duned in the winter is they have a close date due to wintering animals. doesnt stop many however. Ive had my quad out there pulling my buddy on a snowboard before. Ive also had more then one ticket
