23champ Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 I was thinking of getting an aftermarket swingarm with a round honda style carrier. While pondering my options I've noticed that there are different styles of carriers, dual row, and tapered. Whats the advantage of having a tapered over the dual row. I'm looking for an all around trail, mx, drag, whatever carrier, I run my rig in all conditions. Quote
ledofthezep Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 Couldn't tell ya myself...I run a dual row bearing carrier from burgard. Quote
Noob Banshee Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 Holly crap thats a sweet quad!!! Quote
svtkid78 Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 hey ledofthezep, do you have ohlins all the way around? if so what about did they run you? thanks bro sweet bike too man. Quote
rebelbanshee2 Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 tapers last longer, but you want have chain adjustment worth a pile of beans due to the much larger diameter...id still with dual row Quote
ledofthezep Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 Nah...just a re-valved rear, the guy I got it from had it done. Running old works tripples with rezzies up front...for now, they're a HUGE step up from stock anyhow. thnx noob ---all it takes is time & $$ Quote
locogato11283 Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 23champ, you can get a roundhouse carrier and all the parts needed to graft it to your stock swinger from Cotton Eyed Joe. its a lot cheaper than buying a brand new swingarm, trust me ive done both. pm me if you are interested. here is mine. i did all the cuttin and shit myself. i MIGHT be able to help you out with it. ledofthezep Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 Can anyone here tell me where I can get the brake mount for the roundhouse carriers? Quote
DUNEDEMON Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 Can anyone here tell me where I can get the brake mount for the roundhouse carriers? Just about any place that sells the round carriers should have them, they're not much $10-20, if you can't locate one let me know, and I'll get one for you next week. Quote
ledofthezep Posted August 5, 2004 Report Posted August 5, 2004 Thanks DD...I'll let ya know. Not a pressing issue...just mine's been tweaked a bit & it's currently shimmed up with washers. Quote
dnhyoung Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 What is the advantage of going to the round style carrier. The only reason that I have heard is because of ease of adjusting the chain tension. Thanks Quote
ledofthezep Posted August 6, 2004 Report Posted August 6, 2004 The only reason that I have heard is because of ease of adjusting the chain tension. That's probably the main reason, + strength, easier to maintain...someone else throw in there $.02. Quote
locogato11283 Posted August 7, 2004 Report Posted August 7, 2004 they look better, are easier to adjust and stock sucks. mine is stronger now that i did the conversion than when it was stock. Quote
hamuel Posted August 8, 2004 Report Posted August 8, 2004 duel rows weight more and rob power? over single rows? Quote
23champ Posted August 8, 2004 Author Report Posted August 8, 2004 I found a new RAD carrier for $130 (its a blem), or a Boss Racing carrier for $120. Both are dual row. I think I would like the dual row a little better, they seem like they would last longer. Quote
