PUSH THE THROTTLE Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 I don't have any experience with chrome nor does anybody that I ride with. Which holds up better chrome or powdercoat? Also some places have the triple plated show chrome option does it last better than regular chrome? I searched but couldn't find the answers to these questions. Thanks in advance for the help. Quote
streetshee Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 well i think chrome is harder than powdercoat, powder coat is a bit like a mixture of paint and hard plastic, is harder wearing than paint, and available in lots of cool colours, chrome is for harlys ,anodizing/powder/polishing is for shees Quote
decon Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 powdercoating or chrome is just a way of finishing the product. they are not different, except in appearence. both wiill b just as strong. Quote
PUSH THE THROTTLE Posted August 4, 2004 Author Report Posted August 4, 2004 So what is the triple plated show chrome? Three Layers? Quote
decon Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 chrome is a liquid process they gotta dip the parts through to make em chrome. basically a tripple plate is like going through the chrome process 3 times to give it a real nice lookin finish. Quote
PUSH THE THROTTLE Posted August 4, 2004 Author Report Posted August 4, 2004 Thanks for the info. Since white powdercoat isn't offered I guess I'll go chrome. Unless anybody has a reason not too? Quote

Screamin_Banshee Posted August 5, 2004 Report Posted August 5, 2004 The chroming process is much much different than the powder coating process. The two are nothing alike, other than they are both fine coatings, and can be very durable if done properly. Quote

decon Posted August 5, 2004 Report Posted August 5, 2004 I know that they are 2 different processes, im saying they dont affect the strenght at all, they just affect the appearence of the product because PUSH THE THROTTLE was asking which holds up better but in reality they are the same thing with a different appearence.
