ness Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 I am going to have one of the members here lighten my flywheel. I have to order a flywheel puller, and was wondering if a +4 degree key was worth getting while I'm ordering the puller. My question, if installed properly will the degree key stay put? What are the possible negative affects of advancing the timing by 4 degrees? Last, I'm running Mr Noss' head with 21cc domes on an otherwise stock motor. Quote
svtkid78 Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 You may have to run a higher octane gas when you advance your timing. that can be a disadvantage depending on your wallet. it will stay put if installed correctly Quote
banshdog Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 i have a +4 key in my bike, no problems here....... i wish i would have known to lighten my flywheel when i had it off the first time!! Quote
racer Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 i heard bad things about keys shearin, so i prefer a plate. my mistaked was to get a PD one since ricky stator sellf for like 1/3 of the price Quote
sredish Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 You can mod your stock plate to allow +4 degrees of advance for no money at all. just slot the hole to the left so you can rotate the stock plate clockwise. 1mm = 1 degree, so you'd want to make the slot long enough to allow your plate to turn 4mm. Easy enough, as far as the flywheel, great mod, i've got and i like it. pm boonman and he'll give you a very sweet deal. later. Quote
rebelbanshee2 Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 ive had a degree key, an adjustable plate, and a modified stocker...i say just modify the stock one, works great thats what if using now Quote
