n-stylebansheeracer Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 Hi , I'm only new so can you give me a hand. I have a 2001 Banshee that when it's cold it just doesn't want to go. I kicks over every now and again but it will idle for a bit but start to die out. You tap the throtle then it dies out. But when it's warm it starts first kick. The only way we can start it so far is to clutch it. Do you think it's the spark plugs? Quote
banshee04le Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 If your compression is good and even, then you may just need larger pilot jets in the carbs. Are they stock carbs? Any idea what pilots are currently in there? Quote
knight_ripper Posted July 26, 2004 Report Posted July 26, 2004 Play with your Pilot jets..... Id bet 10 bux thats the prob....... Check out BansheeHQ's jetting FAQ's ... do a search youll find it. Quote
zzzz Posted July 27, 2004 Report Posted July 27, 2004 Mine did the same thing after I cleaned my carbs. The float bowls look the same but you can't switch them. The float bowl on the left carb will have a small gold ring on it. Look at them from the front and you should see it. Make sure it is not on the right carb. If that's not the problem, make sure that the rubber tube that connects the carbs is not missing. Quote
n-stylebansheeracer Posted July 27, 2004 Author Report Posted July 27, 2004 But do you you think it needs any ajdustments because once it's started it's 100%. Nothing wrong with it, it's just starting. Plus , do any of you's have over heating problems? Quote
fixitrod Posted July 27, 2004 Report Posted July 27, 2004 Start with adjusting the pilot screws on the airbox side of the carbs for the starting problem. As far as overheating problems, I don't have any. I use to loose a lot of coolant until I moved my bottle up front. Here's how http://kuoi.asui.uidaho.edu/~john/tips.html Quote
