2004LEBanshee Posted July 15, 2004 Report Posted July 15, 2004 I was wondering if there are shops that bend back bent axles? It isn't that bad it's rideable now but has a good wobble to it. How is the reliability of it? I just want to be able to ride till I can afford an aftermarket one. Any input is appreciated. Quote
frocashmoney24 Posted July 15, 2004 Report Posted July 15, 2004 i would just got out and buy anouther stock axle, i think it would weaken the axle by bending it back, and it would be a bitch to do Quote
dogboystoy Posted July 15, 2004 Report Posted July 15, 2004 Well, I think that because it is bent, you are putting a bit more stress on your bearings, which would cause more wobble. So, if you just want to get by a little longer, either 1. deal with what you have, or 2. check your bearings in the carrier and see if they need replacement (cost you around 30$). But the new bearing probably wont last a real long time, they may get you through the summer. To buy a used stock axle would cost ya 100$ maybe?, i think I would rather save it toward the new replacement like a durablue or whatever you like. So, I guess it depends on how bad your axle is now, if you want to deal with it for now and maybe get a new one for christmass. JMO Quote
XTShee Posted July 15, 2004 Report Posted July 15, 2004 I had an engineer straighten out 2 for me, one for my banshee and 1 for the wolverine, it cost like 50 bucks each and the guy reckoned it would have been truer than Yamaha had it. I did bend my banshee one again 3 weeks later though so I brought a aftermarket. Wolverine one is still fine 2 years on. Quote
2004LEBanshee Posted July 15, 2004 Author Report Posted July 15, 2004 it has a lil bend by the right hub Quote
XTShee Posted July 15, 2004 Report Posted July 15, 2004 Also depending on how bad the bend is there is a chance it can snap while trying to bend it back Quote
2004LEBanshee Posted July 15, 2004 Author Report Posted July 15, 2004 (edited) I rode it back and was toped in 6th for a while so not to bad but it looks retarted. Also played in the parking lot riding 3rd gear wheelies. Dam beer Edited July 15, 2004 by 2004LEBanshee Quote
MotulMonsta Posted July 15, 2004 Report Posted July 15, 2004 You really can't bend stock axles back without loosing strength in the metal. Quote
2004LEBanshee Posted July 15, 2004 Author Report Posted July 15, 2004 I'm still waiting for the day when you guys give me news that wolln't cost more money. Thanks for the input. Might get a heavy duty Durablue any input on that. Do I need anything special to use it? Or just the axle Quote
dogboystoy Posted July 16, 2004 Report Posted July 16, 2004 Im not sure on the durablue, you may have to buy their hubs for it. I thought I read that here at one time, but I could be wrong. BUt definitely look into that on whichever axle you buy. Also, you may have to buy a special locking nut to hold the axle on, look into that too. Quote
MotulMonsta Posted July 16, 2004 Report Posted July 16, 2004 Get the Lonestare axcaliber axle..best on the market..They don't break. Durablue's have a bad habbit of breaking..but LS will bend. But both are warrentied and they'll be replaced should something happen. You don't need new hubs, chain and brake bosses..they should fit right up. Quote
