KRMit Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 I'm interested in getting a bigger tank to keep up with my bud's 450r. I read from past posts that the IMS tank causes the handlebars to hit. Is that a real problem? I'm still running stock bars by the way. Quote
frocashmoney24 Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 they do hit, but you can get a +1 steering stem, or a spacer for ur steering stem and it will clear, dont forget that you have to trim the plastics, but the milage u get is kickass Quote
SICK BOY Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 (edited) I got a 5.6 gallon IMS tank.I bought a set of Rox risers and my Renthal bars clear perfect. The risers come in 2",4"and 5" I beleive. I'm using a 4" because my bars are so low (they're dirt bike bend). Check them out at- Rox Speed FX Edited July 13, 2004 by SICK BOY Quote
ness Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 I can't coment on the IMS, but I have a Clarke 5.5 and it works without needing any modification to the stock steering/bars. You do have to trim the front plastic but no big deal. I don't have any complaints with the Clarke. The IMS is probably a good tank too. Besides the advantage of being able to run long distance I think the big wonky looking tank gives the Banshee a more muscular appearance. Quote
German Shepherd Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 I bought one and it fit perfect. All you have to do is cut the plastic on the sides that say yamaha. You also should file down the corners of your top radiator guard. This will stop the wires from rubbing. You have to use your stock petcock which is easy to remove. Just watch you dont rip your fuel lines when removing them., Quote
German Shepherd Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 I am useing stock bars and they do not hit at all. By the way this is a big hint BUY IT FROM ROCKY MOUNTAIN ATV CATALOG. They sold it to me for like 200.00 with free shipping. You get the tank, new gas cap, new gasget and new fuel line with mounting hard wear.I am not any where near a machanic, I just learned how to change gear oil but still cant adjust a chaine. PM me if you need help finding rock mountain atv catalog. I seen the tank selling other places for 250.00 plus shipping. Also PM me if you need any help instaling it. Quote
SICK BOY Posted July 13, 2004 Report Posted July 13, 2004 I bought mine brand new from some ebay store for $150.00 shipped. It came with new cap, petcock gasket all sealed it the factory box.Shop around because there are deals out there. Quote
KRMit Posted July 15, 2004 Author Report Posted July 15, 2004 I thought Clarke only made a 3.something tank? RockyMountain looks like the way to go if I can't find one on Ebay. I just want to be able to slap it on and ride. I can't afford $80 for those risers and I don't think a steering stem would be much cheaper. Quote
