bigwill Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 check coil and stator-get clymers manuel-it will help you alot-it will tell how to test each and alot of other stuff you will need to know so you can be your own banshee expert-----well not an expert-but you will learn the basics Quote
ledofthezep Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 Could be something with your coil, possible bad plug cap connection. Dunno about the cdi...most cdi's I've seen/heard of going bad just quit & stop allowing any spark. Could be something with the stator possibly, does it backfire at all? Quote
brandon91 Posted July 9, 2004 Author Report Posted July 9, 2004 not a total back fire but it will pop and sputter out of the left pipe Quote
frocashmoney24 Posted July 9, 2004 Report Posted July 9, 2004 u have a friend wtih a stator off a running bike you could swap with to see if its your problem? cause if i had to bet on it, thas what it would be. Quote
ScreaminShee01 Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 my did the same exact thing... fresh rebuild start firing one side and backfiring sure enough it was the coil. Quote
Justintoxicated Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 (edited) have you played with the main jets? When does it misfire, WOT, idle, Mid? I had a similar problem running stock carbs and a 12-port.. Changed to Billet Intake, V-force reeds, 33mm PWKS running 48 pilot and 168-172 mains sea level (Ocatillo testing glamis)...200 might be rich I dunno Im not a banshee expert.....Definately unplug everything from your thumb throttle down... That was mu problem Edited July 14, 2004 by Justintoxicated Quote
frocashmoney24 Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 did u ever get it fixed? you are running race gas, right? Quote
brandon91 Posted July 19, 2004 Author Report Posted July 19, 2004 no i havent had time to work on it i am running 110 race gas yes i think i am gonna try to find a coil and put it on and see what happens will a bad coil let it run at all because it will start up and run but then it sputters after i start to take off and i have a twist grip so no wires to un hook Quote
FORMULASPEED Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 I agree with led. I had the same problem and I changed plug caps and the problem went away. Quote
brandon91 Posted July 23, 2004 Author Report Posted July 23, 2004 what if the pick up coil got damaged when i was adjusting my timeing could that be what is causing my problems? Quote
Wassup350 Posted July 28, 2004 Report Posted July 28, 2004 I had the same problem, make sure that your carbs are synced. What happens is one slide will open more then the other causing it to run leaner, this happened on mine and it ran like shit till i synced the carbs up real good. Quote
