i'm in the middle of a fresh overhaul, last summer the steer bearing had some up and down play, so i figured i'd replace the bearing while its apart.

i removed both seals, nut, pulled the stem out, radiator, ect.. there's a goofy nut that holds the bearing in the frame "on top of bearing".

i found a nut that fits it good and dropped it in. i've tried turning it left, and right. nothing happens. then i tried heating with a torch, still nothing. i'm using a 1/2 braker bar 2foot long with a 2foot cheater pipe on that, still nothing.

anyone know if its left hand threads or right?

if nothing else i'll cut it off with my dremel tool tommorow. i'm so pissed right now i don't even want to look at it again...

anyone else have this problem and know a simple solution?

DO NOT cut that out. youll end up runing the threads in the frame. you should be able to turn it out. knock it around with a hammer a few times and maybe get some kinda lube for it. whatever you do, dont mess those threads up. oh yea, its left handed threads.

NO IT IS NOT LEFT THREAD i just took 1 of those nut out about 2 hours ago. it is standard thread. i made a tool for removing the nut. go to the hardware store and find a nut that will fit inside the nut on the frame. once you have that get a bolt that fits your nut from the hardware store, and weld it together then you can get an air impact in there and it will come apart. you might want to soak it with some pb blaster for a couple hours but it will come out. good luck

thanks guy's. i gave it another try, had no luck. even soak it in penetrating oil.

finally i broke out the dremel and cut it in half. it spun off lefty loosey. i also cut off my stock pipe rubber bumper mounts on lower frame tube, give it that clean look.. later

yea i fucked up. it is standard thread. i got to thinkin about it when i read what banshee boy 98 said, and i realized its standard. i cant imagine it being siezed in there. mine have always come out with no effort, liek i could twist them out with my fingers.
