Dopeman0012 Posted July 1, 2004 Report Posted July 1, 2004 my first 3 gears are too close and i wanted to change the sproket. i have 13 in the front and 41 in the back. should i go up in the front one, or two or three down in the back? Quote
Dopeman0012 Posted July 1, 2004 Author Report Posted July 1, 2004 will increasing the front to 14 or back down 2 or 3, increase the top end as well as increase the distance between the first 3 gears? Quote
kenr74 Posted July 1, 2004 Report Posted July 1, 2004 Sounds like he wants more top end. I'd say just play with the front sprocket. They are cheap and easier to change. You can't fine tune quite as much but it just depends on what you are after. I have a 12,13,14, and 15 with me when I go out. Quote
Dopeman0012 Posted July 1, 2004 Author Report Posted July 1, 2004 would the 15 kill most if not all the bottom end Quote
kenr74 Posted July 1, 2004 Report Posted July 1, 2004 Depends on what you are riding on. My bike can't pull a 15 in deep sand with paddles when I'm in 5th or 6th. A 15 works great on open roads though. I usually drop to a 14 in the sand and the 12 if I'm doing lots of tight trails. Quote
deli sandwich Posted July 3, 2004 Report Posted July 3, 2004 this is kind of overkill, but if you put in an RZ transmission 1st, 2nd, and 3rd are spaced farther apart and 4th, 5th, and 6th are closer together. Quote
