kick started seal, cant get the old out?

i am trying to replace the kickstarter seal, i have the clutch cover off, but right over the seal, there is a copper ring or something, and i cant get it out, im ready to cut it out.....the seal is shot and needs to come out, does neone know wha to do??

you should be able to just pop it out with a flathead screwdriver, i don't know anything about a copper ring, mine doesn't have one

The copper ring is actually part of the seal. Some of the replacement ones are just jet black. A couple of small flathead screwdrivers or a set of dentist picks work well. But, you can wreck the copper looking part at will -- its just part of the seal that will be replaced.

ya, i got it out, jesus, i got so pissed i picked of the hammer, and a flat head and start slamming,a nd it bent out, then i sat down smoked a bowl of TOBACO calmed down, and got to bed by 3:30am, wha a good day....
