Just got the 33mm Trinity CV single carb kit. After the first ride my impressions were just average. It didnt have that quick response and snap I expected. It also idled very low. I adjusted the idle screw and air screw to no avail. Maybe my expectations were too high, maybe I need different jets. Any info and advice would be greatly appreciated. Heres what I got:

96 shee

boysen reeds

FMF pipes and silencers

K&N w/ outerwears

No lid on the airbox

33mm Trinity single carb

52 Pilot

180 Main

do a plug check WOT..

 

I'm at 42pilots/175main/needle on the fourth clip/air screw 2 turns out.

 

elev. 600 ft.

 

mine tons of bottom end..

 

I'm Happy..

 

I think U need just need fiddle w/it...

 

when U do get it dialed in U will not wanna get rid of it...

what clip is the needle in, or did you just leave it where it was?? I'd put it in the 4th clip down from the top/blunt end. Also, that pilot is probably a little rich.

 

I agree that you might not have it dialed in yet. The needle can make a difference also, especially on the single carbs.

guys i got a question, cdan anyoen explain how putting one 33 or 35 carb on intead of two 33 or 35 carbs gives u more power. i know it must work cuz so many of u run them but i guess im just not open minded enough to understand how it could help. i know im prolly asking a dumb question but any help will be apprecciated .this has been puzzling me for quite some time. thanks in advance.

well, let me see if I can explain this.

 

the cylinders fire at 180 degrees, so... the left will fire, then the right will fire, then the left... if you have dual carbs, air is being pulled through one carb for an instant, then the other for an instant. both carbs are not pulling air at the exact same moment.

 

a single carb is pulling a constant flow of air through the carb, however it doesn't feed both cylinders at the same moment, due to them firing at opposite intervals, therefore supplying a blast of air on demand.

 

Don't know if that is a perfect explanation, but that should give you the jist.

just take our word for it ;) if your not happy with it then theres something wrong. dont give up yet cause once you get it dialed in youll love it. i hated all 3 of mine, even after i had the first one dialed in, then i got them dialed in and love it. its kind of a love hate thing. i wish trinity could jet them dead on and you just bolt on and go, but we all know thats not how it works. mess with it, good experience !
