Cotton eyed Joe Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 (edited) I build stainless steal pegs, that are polished to a chrome like finish, they look real nice, $50 a set $50/set???? The damn material would cost me that much, not to mention the hour or more in the mill hogging that shit down, then polishing it on top of that. Or are they fabbed/rolled out of something like 1/8 plate instead of machined out of a block of stainless? Just trying to get some good info here, but how do you polish them? Electro-chemically. If so, where the hell can I get one? I've found a few, but not exactly what I'm after. I have to remain "small" so the local sewer district, OSHA and the EPA keeps their damn noses out of what I'm doing. Edited May 27, 2004 by Cotton eyed Joe Quote
MULLET~BOY Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 i thought steal rusts super fast when you polish it Quote
banshdog Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 You found them for $20 shipped huh, ok ill go 19 shipped, haha such a deal. Quote
Cotton eyed Joe Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 i thought steal rusts super fast when you polish it Stainless doesn't from what I've seen. It looks better than aluminum if its been polished correctly. It looks almost like chrome, I think polished stainless looks better than chrome. Quote
bansha60 Posted May 27, 2004 Report Posted May 27, 2004 The stainless we use is a high temperd stainless, I use a metal worker to make the bends and then heliark weld the supports under the pegs, the polishing part I use a special polishing wheel for stainless steal, these pegs wont rust, the polishing part may have a few pits in them from heliark, pretty much why we sell the for $50 bucks, its very hard to not have pits from a heliark because of the argon gas , burn extremely hot, heliark is the best way, using stainless rob in a regualr mig melder, just dosent come out as well as heliark.
