sandgeek Posted May 14, 2004 Report Posted May 14, 2004 Hi Everyone, I just got done rebuilding my 98 Banshee from the frame up. While the motor was out, I had my cyclinders ported, bought a Noss coolhead with 19cc domes, and 2 new 30mm Mikuni carbs, new Toomey T5's and K&N filter system. I took it out to Sandmountain last weekend, and it ran like CR@P. No matter what I did, it would not run correct. It idles just fine, and I can take off from a stop, but if I'm going slow, the mid range just falls on it's face. If I have the engine rev'ed up, it will go, but not to impressive. Anyone have any ideas on what I can do to help the mid range? Thanks SandGeek Quote
SDD Posted May 15, 2004 Report Posted May 15, 2004 The needle needs to be leaned out. I have two friend as well as myself that have the same problem. Only difference is we are running stock carbs for now. Try to move the clip on the needles towards the blunt end. Quote
yama-dude Posted May 15, 2004 Report Posted May 15, 2004 I just put a set of 28s on mine. move the needle to the blunt end as stated before. It should help. Also put in a smaller main jet, and do a plug check. You can adjust the needle all the way towards the blunt end and if that help even more you probly need a different needle. sounds like its rich, carbs take time to dial in, you'll get it, don't give up Quote
sandgeek Posted May 15, 2004 Author Report Posted May 15, 2004 Thanks for all your imput! Unfortunately I tried everything you guys discribed. I kept jetting it down till the plug color was correct, and still no mid range help. Does anyone know if I can take the Dyno needles from the stock carbs, an put them in these 30mm aftermarkets. Thanks again for all your input SandGeek Quote
Banchetta Posted May 16, 2004 Report Posted May 16, 2004 Disconnect the parking brake switch and the tors module above the left exhaust. It has a 3-wire plug.... Quote
