yama-dude Posted May 14, 2004 Report Posted May 14, 2004 I'm going to silver lake next week for the first time. I have toomey t5s, vitos pistons and timing advance. The silver lake web site said the decible level had to be below 92. will I pass it? do they enforce the rules there? anyone ever went there and ran into the noise police? Should I even woory about it? Also what tires are better, sand stars or gekos? Quote
DUNEDEMON Posted May 14, 2004 Report Posted May 14, 2004 Check out the american sand association's web site, they have al ink to legal info for silverlake. I would go with the sand stars over the geckos, hell I'd run dirt tires over geckos. http://www.asasand.com Quote
Brian G Posted May 19, 2004 Report Posted May 19, 2004 I basically live up there, the the limit is 94db and toomeys without the hush kit will not pass!! you will hit around 100-103 and yes the DNR are the sound police I was ticketed up there 2 years ago for being to loud. $50 dollars was the fine. Get a hush kit or put the stock scilencers back on for the weekend, it just is not worth it. Quote
banshdog Posted May 19, 2004 Report Posted May 19, 2004 Im going there this weekend. I have never been checked. I would hate to drive all the way there and not be able to get in. Maybe i should take my stock silencers? What aftermarket exhausts are too loud? My brother is running FMF. Should be worried about my PC's???? Quote
Brian G Posted May 20, 2004 Report Posted May 20, 2004 fmf with turbine core spark arrestors will pass they hit 94-95 and pro circuits with the spark arrestor scilencers will hit 94 everytime. the stock silencers will hit 90 or so. it is good to take them with you just in case you know!! Quote
bansha60 Posted May 20, 2004 Report Posted May 20, 2004 I got hit up 2 years ago when the limit was 98, i hit a 109 with T5's , never got ticketed, took off my silencers, went and bought some packing repacked them, took a big washer and put them inside my silencers and then went back and shot a 93, lol.. Once i got my decibal band on my quad..I messed around on the dunes for awahile..went back and took out the washers and had no problem, they just checked my band. A way of cheating, but it worked. I didnt drive 4 hours to just spend 2 hours on the sand and then pack up and leave. right after that i bought the new fmf tubine core "Q"'s, right before we left after the second trip i asked them to shoot me and hit a 89!. I highly reccomend those if your gonna go to Silver Lake alot, and the surprising thing is it dosent effect power! Quote
