excess
I just put everything back together on my banshee and for some reason the kick starter gear has been getting stuck to the clutch, Ive taken the clutch cover off 3 times to get it to fall back in to place. What is causing this?
cgamla
Is this the little idler gear. If so it is supposed to have a clip holding it in place. I have also seen the brass bushing in the center of it get really opened up causing it to run at all weird angles.
excess
idler gear? The kick starter inside is basically a sprocket, when you kick down it comes up to where the basket is which is basically another gear/sprocket turns it, which turns the motor on and then moves back to its place where it shouldn't touch anything. It has a spring which pushes back into place, can that be the problem, from being loose so long?
frocashmoney24
yea you may need a new spring, did u use a clymers manual to put it in, you have to get them in a specific place
boonman
The clutch basket ring gear doesn't mesh directly with the kickstarter. Otherwise, you would kick it over forward... (like a Honda) Instead, there is an idler gear, which is in constant mesh with the basket gear. The kick starter gear than moves in and out and meshes with this gear only when you kick it over... if that gear's bushing is worn out, or the spring is weak, or the mechanism is dirty, you will have problems....
