Hockey390 Posted May 9, 2004 Report Posted May 9, 2004 (edited) I just spent $70 on a throttle cable from terry cable and I put it on my shee with my new caps because of the TORS removal. When I ordered it (over the phone) we talked to make sure I got the right one, and here it is.. I set it up, seems like its extremely long, and there is an extra 1-2 inches of cable beyond the adjusting screw when its all the way out. is there something i did wrong, or is this cable not for me... EDIT*** Will post a picture Edited May 9, 2004 by Hockey390 Quote
Hockey390 Posted May 9, 2004 Author Report Posted May 9, 2004 in the one of the whole shee, you can see the cable is the braided one with a clear coat on it, the 2 into 1 piece needs to be shoved further forward so the only place for it was in that little wire guide, which I doubt it should be.. then it goes up and runs straight up along the radiator (which I will adjust because I dont want it to melt) and then you see the rest. The pic of the cable is only pulled to see the slack, it is not WOT. Quote
bigtreads Posted May 9, 2004 Report Posted May 9, 2004 looks like you should email that stuff to Terry Cable and ask them whats up. I have 2 twist throttles throttles and rather than screwing up I just bought a new one from them so they know the cable is done right. More $ but less fooling around. Hope you get it solved Quote
SCOTT PRESSLEY Posted May 9, 2004 Report Posted May 9, 2004 Is your adjusters in the carb tops all the way in if not you can take some of the slack out there. Also the cable should have some adjustment infront of the bend where it goes into the tops to.Just a thought hope it helps. Quote
Hockey390 Posted May 9, 2004 Author Report Posted May 9, 2004 Its kindof odd. This was my first time putting on carb tops that are caps instead of the crappy TORS stuff, so I wasnt sure what I had to do, but what I did was screwed the cap all the way onto the throttle peice, then screwed the cap on. I'm assuming that kept them adjusted evenly, but whether or not they are where they are supposed to be I have no idea.. How do I make sure they are "all the way down"? Quote
bigtreads Posted May 11, 2004 Report Posted May 11, 2004 if you look on your carbs they have a small glass window - may be dirty but it's there. get a flashlight and twist your throttle. At about wide open there is a mark (small hole) in the slide which you will see as you twist the throttle while watching for the mark. Both Marks should be in the same spot in both carbs to be in sync. Yes the window is on the same side of both carbs so it can be a pain to see the one but you will get it. Quote
Hockey390 Posted May 11, 2004 Author Report Posted May 11, 2004 Good thing I decided to go to a single carb setup.... But that may not happen until june or july =( Quote
