There is as guy right now in my shop that is helping us go through the mountains of paper work when we quote jobs for the government that is a software engineer and spent a good deal of time designing and building F-16 flight simulators for Evans and Sutherland. I think he said he has over 3000 hours in a simulator. He's pretty sure he could climb in the cockpit and fly a real one.
