SICK BOY Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 (edited) I raced my friends new 450R over the weekend on a back road.We were right next to each other fron 1st to 4th gear.I started pulling away in 5th,and when I got in to 6th gear I thought he backed off because I pulled so far ahead.I rode it after that, and it has lots of low end,but when your in 5th gear your looking to shift again.I also think 1st gear is way to tall. sredish Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 Good info, though I also feel the banshee's first gear is too tall. I never use it but putting around, should be a hair lower. I'd like to get on a Honda 450 then a Yami 450 and see how goes. I might end up buying if I rode one, better not ride one. Later Quote
boonman Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 I may be bringing two friends of mine down to Coalfest. One has a new Honda 450, and the other has a yammy 450. We'll see..... Quote
Banchetta Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 I have 2 friends w/ the Yami's and 2 friends w/ the HOndas...The Honda is piped, cam, valves, etc....pulls the 2 yamis w/ pipes and cam, but he's also a great rider..PUlls them by 2-3 bike lengths, but if I race the Yami, he only gets it by 1 bike length..He is also a smaller guy....Who cares, I smoked both of them by 5 quads from 1st-4th, then leave him like a bitch after.... looks like the 2-strokes aren't outdated yet.... roosthrower Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 those new 450 thumpers are FAST from the factory. but there isn't much to mod on their engines since they are so hopped up from the factory. you can't really port the heads cause there aint much to port. it has all been done from the factory. all there is for them is cams, higher compression pistons, and displacement increasing mods (big bores/storker cranks).
