bansha60 Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 yeah, nickelsealed, and if someone told you that you cant bore them they are full of shit because you can bore nickesealed sleeves because I do it! Quote
91twin350 Posted May 3, 2004 Author Report Posted May 3, 2004 a bunch of guys that race banshee around my area said that there not nickelsealed cylinders and the guy at the one shop said that if i want them bored that i ahve to send them to a special company to get them done that i can jsut send them to a regualr boreing place Quote
bansha60 Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 I work in a machine shop where we bore, resleeve,do porting, grind heads, etc etc etc. most banshee cylinders are nicklesealed, and yes you can bore them out as far as .100. (paperthin wall). We bore them with a diamond boring stone, if you want to them (or need them) bored say .20 over, we bore them .10 clockwise, then .10 over counterclock wise to reduce friction going around on one way of the cylinder. etc. Quote
locogato11283 Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 you guys have it all wrong. banshee cylinders are NOT nickelsealed. and im about 95% positive you cant bore nickelseal cylinders. you have to have them replated. Quote
BdBanshee Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 They are a standard cast iron sleeve, pressed into an aluminum cast cylinder. You can have them bored anywhere. Quote
91twin350 Posted May 3, 2004 Author Report Posted May 3, 2004 so if say they are i dont need to get the re-nickelsealed if bored? Quote
locogato11283 Posted May 4, 2004 Report Posted May 4, 2004 they are not nickel sealed. anyone telling you they are is a fuckin idiot. your local yamaha shop can bore them. and no you cant bore nicle seal cylinders. most guys that have them in dirtbikes just re ring and put a new piston in. if the cylinder walls are fucked up you have to have them re plated. but dont worry becuase your banshee cylinders are absolutely not nickel sealed. 91twin350 Posted May 4, 2004 Author Report Posted May 4, 2004 ok thanks guys u guys jsut saved me about 140 bucks cuz the guy at the shop wanted to send it out to a nickelseal shop in like wissconsion or somethign like that Quote
