LegendSS28 Posted April 29, 2004 Report Posted April 29, 2004 Hey guys, the pump on my 9 horse honda power washer just went, so i took it off the engine, and took the engine off the roller. The shaft is horizontal, so yes I'm pretty sure it will work. What I am wondering is will I need to put some type of clutch mechanism on it? Im pretty sure this is the engine...any help would be nice, thnaks Quote
Stuff Posted April 29, 2004 Report Posted April 29, 2004 I think a lot of karts with that type of engine use a centrifigul type clutch which drives a chain or belt-drive connected to the axle. Quote

You might employ something like this. Quote
LegendSS28 Posted May 5, 2004 Author Report Posted May 5, 2004 Alright thanks guys...I am positive now that I need a clutch, or else the rear wheels will keep spinning. I will see if I can find that torq converter online....o yea, heres a link of the engine http://www.honda-engines.com/gx270.htm Quote
DIRTBIKEZ Posted May 5, 2004 Report Posted May 5, 2004 I'm selling one on ebay right now... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=3675827167 Quote

That would be me yes you would want a torque convertor not a centrifigul clutch, those clutches are only good for kids that dont weight over like 40 pounds. plus the torque convertor changes gear ratios as you go faster and the HOOK up and dont slip like a regular clutch. if you dont buy the one off ebay, let me know i can give you a couple links to some good places to buy them. the run about 140 new with a #40 or 41 chain. DIRTBIKEZ Posted May 5, 2004 Report Posted May 5, 2004 The one I'm selling will not work in your case. From the link you posted, the Honda engine has a 1" output which would have to be turned down. Quote
