Minkia38 Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 yo - on a project bike im working on - the gas tank is mounted between the rear frame rails (right behind stock location for coolant reservoir). When a fatass sits on it and jumps up and down - it will actually bottom out on the stock swingarm. I will be putting a long ass swingarm on this project, but im afraid of the same thing. So do i need a longer shock to remedy this, or just a stiff ass spring?? anyone have any advice? Quote
boonman Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 You need to match up a spring rate with the arm you want. Also should have that puppy re-valved...... Quote
jeffro189 Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 loose some weight that might help lol Quote
DUNEDEMON Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 If this is a Banshee based project I can help with a spring (my company makes direct replacement increased rate rear springs for the OEM rear shock) plus we have coil-over specific springs too. If you have significantly changed the weight bias, or rear suspension's motion ratio you will need to increase the spring rate to gain back you wheel rate. The only time a different length shock is required is when you ghange mounting points. Let me know if I can help. Quote
bigboybanshee Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 loose some weight that might help lol I bet that took you a long time to think up...real genius here Quote
boonman Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 Dune Demon. I may be interested in a different rear spring for my bike. I plan on having the rear shock re valved (stocker) and While I'm at it, I was going to get a new spring. I'm a large individual. 235 lbs. Quote
DUNEDEMON Posted April 27, 2004 Report Posted April 27, 2004 boonman, I just need to know what type of riding you do, and the length of your swing arm (stock / -2 / +4 etc...) I'd be happy to help you out ( or anyone else for that matter), let me know what I can do. Who are you going to have do your re-valve? Quote
Rescuejeff Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 Demon, and Boonman, I had Precision Concepts in San Diego do my respring and valving for $330, with a gaurantee if I did not like the way it reacted they would make the changes I wanted. I think it does not help you much since your in the east coast but may help if you have them valve it and send it to demon for the spring. Have fun. Quote
DUNEDEMON Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 Good info Rescuejeff, I have Todd at TCS do all of my valving (he uses our springs exclusively) his prices are close to what you paid, and offers the same type of gurantee. What type of spring did precision concepts install? just curious. Quote
