Is it normal for them to wear and loosen up like that, or is it just because they're exposed to so much dust and dirt and sand and shit? There's gotta be some way to seal them up with some kind of boot.

Talked to Gary, sais it common for the hiem to start getting play after about a year depending on riding...then he suggested that I ride hard.... ...everyone sais that.... Anyways...He has some stronger ones that just came out, they are $25/joint, and are only $10 more than the previous ones.....I'm gonna try some out..let you know next year how they hold up..... Not trying to hijack this thread, well I guess I am. I just designed some new A-arms for my bike that use a "uniball" instead of a heim / or ball joint ( automotive tie-rod end ) They are at the coater as we speak, whenI get them back I'll post some pictures. They are +2 +1 with 9 degress of positive caster and 1.5 degrees of negative camber built in - non adjustable, made from .083 and .120 wall 4130 chrome-moly, tig welded. If people are interested I may start building them and selling them cheap.

wow $100 for a set. did he say anything about sealed balljoints? the heims on my arms were looser after 2 months than the ball joints on the stock arms they replaced....and they were off an 89 :o:(

He said the hiems are stronger, but how would you know if you had a little play in the ball joints???If I couldn't see the play in my hiems, the I don't think I'd know it.....
