New Pipes

My CPI's showed up yesterday , they are going on this weekend along with +4 swingarm i got from 00BANSHEE . Is there any modifications that need to be done before i start? Or should they bolt right up?

I bolted my new CPI's on last week. Just watch that the pipes clear the frame. I had to shim the exhaust hangers out on one side about 1/4" so the chambers wouldn't rub.

My silencers did not want to slip onto the pipes very easily at all.

You might want to try a trial fit with the silencers

before you put them on the bike. I had to take a rattail file and clean

up the edge a little.

Get some jets if the pipes didn't come with some.... a K&N w/ a noss machine adapter wouldn't hurt the cause either.

exactly what he said i had to shim my from mount on the left side to keep it from hitting the head and the stingers didnt exactly slide right into place either.

Get some jets

 

 

You really need to jet it very well to get all the power out of it.

 

When i had my CPI i changed my jetting from 240 to 280 and then i had problem with the 280 in the 3rd gear it was losing a lot of power so i went back 2 the 260.

Some of my friends have had to actually go to smaller jets with CPI's (changing from T5's). Make sure everything clears, a couple weeks ago we had to weld up a CPI inframe that got a hole worn in it by making contact with the head of a t-rex over a period of time (stock cylinders would clear fine I imagine).

I have them bolted on. I am going to have to find some spacers, both chambers are touching the frame.

 

When the pipes leave the exhaust collars and start there bend to the chambers, there is a stock mounting bracket on the frame (both sides). The pipes are hitting in this location. Do these need to be removed?

my friend had to cut his off, i didnt have any trouble with mine.

I had to remove those 2 stock mounting brackets as well.

Let us know any power difference there has been a long controversry over cpi and toomey t5.s. Id love to know how they feel in comparison.
