Why Does My Bike Over Heat?

So I was riding this weekend, and its warmer then its been for a while..and after riding for a while, my friend smelled antifreeze..and he said it smelt like it was coming from the pipes, so I stopped and checked it out..nothing was leaking or anything..so I checked the plugs..there was no antifreeze on them..so I was like ok..it had to be overflowing onto the pipes, causeing it to smell like it was coming from the pipes..so whats causing it to over heat..do I have a bad waterpump? should I get a cool head? should I get a inline cooler? Or run that engine ice stuff?just need to know fast cause Im riding at little sahara soon and its hot there..

if it is overheating, get a inline cooler or 2, the more the merrier, then try some engine ice, and see if the fins on ur radiator are messed up

It may not be overheating. Try moving the coolant bottle to the front. If it is it could be a water pump. But, if your just loosing cooling but never hear it bubble try this http://kuoi.asui.uidaho.edu/~john/mods.html

I was having over heating problems, I moved my overflow upfront, still same thing. Then I found that my spark plug wires had been switched. Switched them back and all is good.If siting on your quad,the left side should run to the terminal closest to the front of the bike.Just a suggestion. Also remove the radiator cap and see if the water is moving while reving engine.

LMMFAO... It doesn't matter what spark plug wire is on either cylinder. They fire at the same time. I know the pistons aren't at the top at he same time but they do spark at the same time. It's one coil.

 

Now it is a good idea to look into the radiator.

Fixitrod is right on....swapping the coil wires has absolutely NOTHING to do w/ overheating problems..My guess is that you put a mod on or pipes and never jetted it right or at all...This will lead to a meltdown....either that or your water impeller is broke, which is a common thing....If I was you, I'd take this advice that your problem has not been fixed and you might want to look further before any damage occurs..
