Sheeboy12 Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 I turn my front stock wheels around in the front to try and get more width for stability(adds about 2-3" on each side) and the valve stem hits the calipers on the front when the wheels roll. HOw can i put the valve stem on the other side of the wheel??? Quote
evil Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 drill a hole in the other side and ive seen guys put the valve stem in backwards when doing this to seal the hole up and keep it from hitting the calipers. Quote
boonman Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 Just to clear that up, you take the factory valve stem, and turn it inside out, so the valve stem is now INSIDE the tire. Then, 180 degrees from the stock hole, you drill a hole on the OTHER side of the rim. And install a valve stem in the normal fashion. This will be the new outside of the wheel. Quote
KRMit Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 I would think that would also increase leverage on your shock so you might want to go a notch or two stiffer. Quote
rzcolobanshee Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 (edited) I used flush mount valve stems, that way I can flip them either way. I wouldn't recommend flipping your tires though, If you have too much offset you will have wicked bump steer, I hated it and widened it the right way, a arms Edited April 12, 2004 by rzcolobanshee Quote
Holyman Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 If you flip 'em and have a steering stabilizer, does it help with the bump steer or do you still get a beatn' Quote
rzcolobanshee Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 Not positive since I don't have a stabalizer but i'm sure it would help considerably Quote
erbilabuc Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 flipped mine and with a steering stabalizer u dont get any bump steer. Quote
banshee04le Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 I flipped mine and have a steering stabilizer. It was still a significantly rougher ride due to bumpsteer. I did not like it and flipped them back. Quote
banshee tuner Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 I flipped mine and got 4 more inches of width and love it. I just had to ajust the tie rods cause it had to much toe out. Quote
