2k4_Shee Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 I went for a long ride today and the shee got very dusty. It is the first time that I plan on washing it since i have only had it for a couple weeks or so..I bought me some good degreaser for thew tires and some WD-40 to spray on the plastics when i get them back clean, but is there any pre-cautiosn that i need to take before washing it? Will it hurt it to spray it all over with the waterhose? Any help is much appreciated, thnx for any replys... Quote
Sanddunejunkie Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 I usually go ahead and pull my air cleaner off and put rags down the intake then put the air box lid back on and wash away...........DONT forget to pull the rags back out after you clean the filter and go to put it back on Quote
ranshee Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 Try to keep it out of the pipes as well. Kinda hard to get it out of there, and also a risk it could go in the motor. Quote
Otis Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 I usually just break out the ol Cali mini car duster, and give it a once over if it isn't all that dirty..works really good.... If you do hose her down, make sure you dry it off completely. Rust and water spots suck..... Quote
oldturtle Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 I would not rec'm degreaser on the tires. Could harm the rubber. I just use dish detergent and elbow grease. Works just fine all over. And be sure and stay away from pressure washers. They will screw up bushings, bearings, and seals in a hurry. I spray WD on shock shafts, all pivots, and chain before running. Then start up and run enough to dry everything out. If you don't like WD on your chain use anything but get it on right away because otherwise chain will start to rust. If you can't ride the bike to dry out at least use an air blower to dry out. Do not just wash it and park it. Quote
