Well guys I'm having a new swing arm built, staying with the +4", just a slightly different design. The new arm will have OEM style mounts for a swing arm skidplate - the smaller rear only style (I don't have one currently). So I'm looking for input from all of you. What do you have? Why do you like / dis-like it?

I will post some pictures of the new swinger when complete, and will be introducing a new coating process called "powder chrome" that I will soon be offering as a service. A friend of mine has purchased the rights to this process from Pioneer ( very similar to the process of coating CD's, DVD's etc..) Better looking than chrome, as durable as powder coating with none of the nasty side effects related to the chroming process. I will have pictures and will explain the entire process later in great detail. Stay tuned.....

For those who are interested I just ordered a "UM Racing" .190" thick rear skid plate. I'll get some pictures and post a review when I get it installed.

i have a DG skid, it has taken one hell of a beating but is showing signs of failure, the welds are starting to crack. Get a better on if you are gonna be riding on rocks or in the woods.

Dunedemon, if you only ride the sand then the need for a rear skid plate is decreased to no need. But since your up near Elsinor there are lots of trails to ride than sure buy the new one.... :P

Is that aluminum or steel?

I just got my skid plate mounts finished on my swingarm, now I'm just waiting on one more thing before I get it all tested and approved. After that I plan on making skids for these too.

I do ride in the desert from time to time, plus while in the sand I like tho keep the rear sprocket and rotor out of the sand.

It is aluminum. Their design is different from others that I've seen in that it has a large integraded "shield" that covers the front portion of the rear brake rotor. It is part # YAMA-UM-YBA-410 and can be seen at http://www.umracing.com

I got the Armadillo skid. Its .250 aluminum. It fit like a glove (not the OJ glove) and didn't even need any shims or anything. Extremely sturdy. Two thumbs up, here. Rockymountain has them.
