BrokeStonedBiker Posted April 3, 2004 Report Posted April 3, 2004 you know the screw on the gas tank that holds the front fender and the tank plastic? i had to clip off the head of the bolt to get my plastic offm and i want to replace it. are you suposed to get the plastics off those bolts> is there suposed to be slots on all the plastics so they can slide off? and i tryed to unscrew the screw but it was just spining is there a way to get this out? thanks Quote
banshee04le Posted April 3, 2004 Report Posted April 3, 2004 About all you can do now is rip out the screw (or what is left of it) and the insert with some vice grips. If you can get the screw out of the insert and clean up the threads, you can try to epoxy the insert back into the tank. The front plastic is slotted. The tank plastic is not. Quote

SICK BOY Posted April 3, 2004 Report Posted April 3, 2004 Holyman you should post that in the tips/tricks section.I think alot of people have had that problem before. Quote
got1banshee Posted April 3, 2004 Report Posted April 3, 2004 I had that problem and I got pissed and riped the bold and shit right out and it left about a 1/2 -3/4 " hole there. haha I just said just it and bought a new tank off ebay for 35 bucks Quote
fixitrod Posted April 3, 2004 Report Posted April 3, 2004 I have the same problem. I just hit it with an impact a few times. It just made the insert spin more but it loosened the nut a little. I put some force on it with a screw driver while I was doing it. It gave me enough clearance to just cut a slit ion the plastics so the slide on now. It still holds good enough I don't have any trouble. Quote
BrokeStonedBiker Posted April 8, 2004 Author Report Posted April 8, 2004 no one knows how to get it out? is there a nut on the inside of the tank? it doesnt make sence how it would jus spin, the people who designed this, suck. i can live with there not being a head on the bolt, my plastics dont come out. its just looks hacked. Rescuejeff Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 Use a air tool to just cut it off and start new... oh that not the best idea, maybe drink alot of beer then work on it, it helps me to think..... Quote
