I was riding today and when I clutched it and let off something happened. There is no pressure on the cable and I can move the clutch arm with my finger. Something inside is not connecting. Anybody know what might have happened?

i'd be hoping you broke ur cable, pull the line and see if the cable down below the carb moves, if it dont then you may be needina new clutch

Cable is fine. When I pull the clutch lever, there is nothing there. The lever moves freely. I started it up in neutral after it happened and revved it up and popped it into first and started going. Kept shifting up and rode it home. The clutch doesn't slip so I don't think I need a new one. The clutch only has two tanks of gas on it.

if you just reeplaced the clutch. Did you adjust the inside clutch adjustment. Did you line up the arrow on the outside of case. sometimes this adjustment nut comes loose and will be sitting in the botom of you clutch cover. Its hard to get tight so lock tight works well.

Your lucky if its the above.

If its this your in for some real fun.

You could of welded the ball to the rod and that adjuster and also the cam your cable is connected too.

The onlyway to fix it is pull the motor and split the cases so you can get the rod out.

Had this happen twice no fun common problem with overreving with the clutch lever in. No problems after running two quarts of oil instead of 1.65.

wait, maybe the spring popped off the cable down by the case? but that might just make it not return, if its none of that stated,i htink you may have to pop off ur side cover

The cable doe not return from that little spring your cluch springs push it back.

That little spring just keeps that cam from dragging on the rod when the clutch is not engaged.

99 Mx let us know whats up. It is a common problem.

99MX, I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOUR PROBLEM IS. THE EXACT SAMETHING HAPPENED TO ME A COUPLE WEEKS AGO. YOUR CLUTCH BASKET DISENGAGED. YOU WILL HAVE TO PULL OF F THE CLUTCH PLATES OFF . AFTER YOU TAKE THEM OFF YOU WILL NOTICE A NUT IN THE MIDDLE. IM 99.9% SURE THAT THE NUT IS LOOSE. TIGHTEN IT , PUT BACK OYUR CLUTCH PLATES AND SIDECOVER AND YOUR READY TO RIP IT AGAIN! I WOULD RECOMEND THAT YOU USE AN IMPACT TO TIGHTEN IT.

YOU CAN THANK ME LATER BY FED EX-ING ME SOME BEER. J/K :P ...OK BUT IF YOU DO I LIKE SAM ADAMS. IM STILL KIDDING... REGULAR NOT LIGHT LOL!

And im the lucky winner of that beer.

Send it to Glamis for Easter. :headbang::headbang::headbang::cheers::cheers::cheers::clap::clap::dance::shootself:

Sorry man one more thing. You do have to split the cases to get the rod and cam out.

I have herd of just taking the bottom apart. Iusually take it all apart.

Were the rod goes thru make shure ther is a smooth surface for the rod to roll around might have debri or welded some stuff to the inner wall..

If you run 2 quarts of oil this will not happen the rod and ball will be in oil.

The other thing is try not to overev the motor when the clutch is in.

I know we all think we will just pull rev and dump the clutch but that is what shifting gears is for.

Last but not least you can order this bearing thing for like 40. JUst search for it cant remember how it worked or who sold it.

I don't want to hi-jack this post, but I have one going now talking about the same problem. Only thing is, i wasn't riding mine when it happened. I just parked it and went out the next day and the level was really easy. I took the clutch apart and the nut was tight, took everything apart and the rod and ball came out with no problem and look fine. Any other things I should be checking?
