PlaynSand Posted March 28, 2004 Report Posted March 28, 2004 My V-Force Reeds did not come with gaskets, so stock gaskets were used, after inspection I noticed that the stock gaskets do not totally seal the reed cage. Where the inside of the reed assembly goes in the manifold spacer there is a gap that the stock gaskets do not cover. Should wider gaskets be used on the carb side?? And would this cause a low end bog ?? Sorry no pics. Quote
PlaynSand Posted March 28, 2004 Author Report Posted March 28, 2004 Well with a little research I found that Vito's makes a gasket for the carb. boot side , specifically for V-Force reeds that is a lot wider than OEM gaskets. This gasket would seal the gap between the reed cage assembly and the manifold spacer. Now my question is after fixing this , is my jetting going to be way off ?? and what is the effect of running engine with leak between reed cage and carb ?? Quote
vmaxup Posted March 28, 2004 Report Posted March 28, 2004 There is no effect running stock gaskets on V force reed cages. If it leaks it would only leak internally. It will not suck air from the outside. I rebuil and ran stock gaskets on V fource and had no problems. I know what your talking about. Sat in a chair and drank a beer just studying it. It will be fine. Quote
