"thenewguy" Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 kinda stupid but im gonna go riding for about 5 hours tommorrow and i dont want my pistons to expand and distort on me, but how can you tell if a radiator is working or not? i road it for about a half an hour and i could probably melt glass on this exhaust. also my nice paint job went up in smoke too. ill call it "double bouble". Hey it double bouble! anyway ill post pictures of that fuckin mess next week. so is there a way to check it? or do i have to take the thing all apart? Quote
wesw Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 well a temp gauge would tell you how your rad is working. as for the pipe that hot is your bike jetted correctly. Quote
vmaxup Posted March 28, 2004 Report Posted March 28, 2004 open your radiator cap when its cooled down of course. Then start your shee and rev it up. Look in top of radiator you should see water rushing by if you dont your impeller gear is melted. check that first then let us know and we will go from there. Quote

vmaxup Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 If you read what I said It was make shure the shee is cooled down. You will not have a problem. If you get sprayed re read what I said. That is one thing about people reading these posts they dont read and comprehend before they answer. They just blurt some crap out. Good answer for post before this one. Take it to the dealer so they can get coolant all over them. Maybe thats how I should answer post from now on. EXAMPLE. My plugs are fouled what should I do. ANSWER, Sell it to me for 50 bucks you might get hurt if I tell you the answer. Quote
fixitrod Posted March 29, 2004 Report Posted March 29, 2004 The jetting response above was the correct answer. Fuel is what cools the pistons and exhaust mostly. Coolant keeps the cylinder and disperses heat in the head. Now, exhaust does get really really hot when romping though. Now, as far as the coolant flowing, you should be able to take the cap off and see it circulate. You could also take the small hose off the head and see if coolant shoot out when kicking it over.
