banshee tuner Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 You will be fine with your crank, just don't have more than 30 thou. taken off unless they can rechamber the head. Quote
navy00banshee Posted March 25, 2004 Author Report Posted March 25, 2004 rechamber the head? do you mean change the dome on the inside? Quote
Ducman Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 rechamber the head? do you mean change the dome on the inside? Yup. When you mill the head the piston starts getting too close to the dome around the outer edges of the piston (the squish band) and causes bad combustion chamber geomety and too little clearance and detonation problems. .030" is safe for mill only, more than that and you need the domes re-cut. Mill only is like $50. PM Boonman, he does it. Quote
boonman Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 Yep. Don't want to get the squish too narrow. That would cause some serious detonation issues. You don't want that. it will melt a hole in the piston. Not good.... Anyways, I will take off any amount you want, for $40, return shipping included. I use a surface grinder, not a mill. My tolerance is .0001". As perfectly flat as flat can get. I also lighten flywheels, and modify shift stars. Quote
