I bought a works rear shock about a year ago - used on ebay. Anyways, they guy said it was set up for a +2 swingarm, 190 lb rider. So I go to put it on my banshee (with stock swingarm) and it was too long to fit!

Now ive put friends stock shocks on their + swingarms, but never vice versa. I'ver also seen stock rear shock revalved for a +12 (obviously same length, not longer). So while I'm waiting for my swingarm, can you guys tell me if this is normal? any performance benefits of longer shock, or is the longer shock just to offset the banshee sitting up really high in rear.......

It probably wasn't for a Banshee. I have a revalved and resprung stock shock for my extended swingarm. Sell that thing on ebay and take your stock one in for some work.

Minkia38, my guess is that the longer rear shock that youy have is either not for a banshee or is for a bike with a different shock linkage or different shock mount loaction on the arm itself, hard to say really since you bought it used. I can think of no reason one would run a longer rear shock with a + length arm unless the mounting point is in a different location. You need more spring rate with a longer swing arm not a longer shock.
