midnighttoker Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 what bolts on the engine case, cylinders, clutch, head, etc do i need to use a torque wrench on and what torque do i need to tighten them to? thaks for all your help, this is my first time doing a rebuild. Quote
NYUK Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 the bolts all require different torque specs. i suggest you buy a clymer manual.or visit. www.thebansheezone.com i m pretty sure meat has a torque spec. chart type thingy. Quote
SICK BOY Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 You should torque all the bolts/nuts on motor. head bolts --20 foot pounds (MAKE SURE YOU TIGHTEN THEM IN THE RIGHT ORDER) cylinder nuts--20 foot pounds case bolt are tightened in four steps-- upper bolts 43 inch pounds, then lower bolts 86 ich pounds, then upper 18 foot pounds, then upper 86 inch pounds If you don't have a Clymer manual I would get one.It will make you rebuild a lot easier. midnighttoker Posted March 21, 2004 Author Report Posted March 21, 2004 that web site helped a lot, but i cant find a place that has the tightening order for the head bolts. does anyone know? Quote
svtkid78 Posted March 22, 2004 Report Posted March 22, 2004 start from the center and work your way out. only torque about half the spec then repeat steps completing torque spec. don,t quite remember but stock head might have the number sequence on it. Quote
