midnighttoker Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 i was wondering if the clutch will work ok if there are only 5 of the 6 bolts holding it on. they are the bolts with the springs on them, and when i was tightening it down the head snapped off and couldnt get it out to put in a different bolt. i was thinking it would be fine if i just left it but im not sure, what do you think? midnighttoker Posted March 21, 2004 Author Report Posted March 21, 2004 ok, now that i know i have to have all six what is the best way to get out the end that broke off inside the clutch? Quote
bkabina Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 You can usually turn it out with a very small straight screw driver. Quote
demsy Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 go to sears, they have a kit to remove stripped/broken bolts,, its 20 bucks. think of it this way 20 for kit, 1 for bolt,, or leave it in there and wait till it comes out and fucks you gears up.. thats about 300 bucks... Quote
jeffro189 Posted March 21, 2004 Report Posted March 21, 2004 i had something similar happen. i have a moose basket so the main gear bolts to it. any way the small gear in the back broke into pieces and sheared the four bolts on the basket off, and all the little plastic cushions when into the tranny. had to replace all the seals, new bolts for the clutch, buy a new main gear, and a new idler gear. and while it is apart it is being ported and all that fun shit. oh and cant forget thee new stator w/ adjustable timing plate. lots of $$$$$$$$ (up to about $450 now ) when i heard that grinding sound behind clutch cover. so if you dont want shit like that to happen spend the money now and fix it right.
