Hockey390 Posted March 16, 2004 Report Posted March 16, 2004 I am sick of my airbox.. The thing is a POS and gets in the way too much. I would just get rid of it, but I sometimes hit water and ride in mud so that wouldnt work out to well.. Do they make a smaller airbox that will fit easier so I can take it out, or can I mod mine in any way to make it easier to remove?? When I tear down or assemble my shee I spend more time trying to get that SOB in then It takes to assemble the rest of it. Anyone moded their box? If so, can I see pics please?! Quote
banshdog Posted March 17, 2004 Report Posted March 17, 2004 I removed my stock air box and replaced it with a UM aluminum one. This box requires a K&N filter that fits a 250R. The box itself has an open top, I put an outerwears (somewhat waterproof), but i strongly suggest drilling some drain holes in the bottom of it because some water will get through. If you want to remove and replace the airbox frequently, the UM box easily slides in and out through the top, rather than from the back of the bike. You also have to have filters for when you remove the air box, i think that the 2 K&N filters will run you about $80. Air box about $200 K&N Filter about $50 Outerwear about $20 There are different styles of airboxes out there, just gotta look around. My brother got one for about $120 that holds 2 smaller K&N's in it, but then you gotta spend the $$$ for the extra filter. Quote
Hockey390 Posted March 17, 2004 Author Report Posted March 17, 2004 Right now I have the single K&N... I had a set of the dual K&N's but I just sold them like 2 days ago.. I wonder if I can rig something up so that is fits in easier...Because I dont really dislike the current box I have, I just hate putting the bitch in place! Thanks for input though. Quote
