sredish Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 I have this sweet Matco 3/8 torque wrench with in-lbs markings and I use it all the time for small stuff. But I don't know how to convert it to ft-lbs which limits its use. There are tons of stuff on the shee I could use it for, but I have to break out the 1/2 wrench becasue I can't convert the specs. Anyone have a multiplier or something? Scott Quote
McSkinner Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 funny you ask that cause I just got one yesterday. I'm really not sure, but I was just assuming you multiply by 12. If anyone knows better please let us know before I go riding and blow my motor or something. Quote
McSkinner Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 maybe try and set the big one to say 20 ft/lbs, and the small one to 240 in/lbs. If they're equal then there you go. Quote
banshee04le Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 Yep, just multiply by 12. 10ft lbs = 120in lbs Quote
SICK BOY Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 My wrench has both listed, and it does work out if you multiply by 12. Quote
sandcrazy60 Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 You're doing it right. in-lbs are just ft-lbs multiplied by 12. Quote
robinson373 Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 Good assumption, according to my clymer manual, 12 in/lbs equals 1 ft/lb. Quote
sredish Posted March 10, 2004 Author Report Posted March 10, 2004 Gosh, you guys are so great... Thanks for the replies. I guess if I wasn't such a dumbass, I could have figured that one out. Actually, I never really thought about it. Quote

DIRTBIKEZ Posted March 10, 2004 Report Posted March 10, 2004 1 ft*lb is approx 1.36 N*m Online Conversions Quote
