shannonpurdy Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 I have a set of reed valve spacers to put on my banshee. I need them to move my carbs back farther because of contact between the bowl and the clutch arm actuator. I have heard they are a gimmick much like the boost bottle. Is this true? What difference does it make if it is put between the reed cage and the jug vs. between the reed cage and the intake manifold? I have heard different storines from different people. What do you guys think. Quote

What do you guys think. It will help the response in the low/midrange some. It helps the air get moving faster into the cylinder. It's not a gimmick like the boost bottle, but it's not a huge seat of the pants improvement, but it does help a little. Put 'em on and try them, then you can tell us what you think. Scott Quote
350duner Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 I've run my 350R with and without spacers and didn't really notice a difference. The theory is it gives a longer intake plenum to boost low end. As a side effect it also increases crankcase volume which can reduce speed through the transfer ports, but like I said, I didn't notice a difference on my bike. I'd say if you are doing it for clearance go for it, if you are looking for extra power, i'd suggest other avenues. Quote
Phast Posted March 5, 2004 Report Posted March 5, 2004 Its what they say they are!!!! Its a spacer too move the carbs back!!!! Quote
