ruff_rida69 Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 I just got my banshee fixed friday and when I hit 2nd gear it just won't shift to 3rd, I have to kill the engine and rock it back and forth to get it to start shifting again, but after I get into 3rd it shift's fine and it only doe's it when I stop some times and some times it will shift 1st to 6th no problem, I have checked my shift star and it looks good and it will shift no problem 1st-6th with the motor off, could it be my clutch? Thanks, Jonathan Quote
ledofthezep Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 Don't know if this will help or not, but give this a shot. When it's shifting ok for ya through all gears....take your shifter off, put a rubber washer(so it won't grind into your stator cover), then a regular washer on the shaft, then put your shifter back on. This will eliminate the left-to-right play of the shift shaft that may be causing your problems. I had the same problems, kept getting stuck in 2 gears. 'TXALKY', I believe, gave me that hint & I've never had any problems shifting since. If nothing else, it's worth a shot. Hope it will help you like it did me. Quote
vmaxup Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 make shure that adjustment on your shift shaft is right. That screw and adjuster nut like to come loose or even break. Quote
shee4202 Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 I had the same problem shifing into 3rd. I just recently spit the cases to rebuild and stuff. put a aftermarket shift cam in and had the shift star mod. I was looking in the manual and it said that the shifter nut and screw needed to be adusted right. and when you look at it closely you will see how the shifter turns the shift star and if its not adjusted right it wont shift right.
