oldturtle Posted February 29, 2004 Report Posted February 29, 2004 Is there any noticable performance difference between the GBC Dune Tracker single rib front and the ITP Sandstar dual rib front. Just from appearance, the Dune Tracker looks more durable because the single rib is bigger than the two smaller ribs on Sandstar. Is this true? And what about the GBC Shark Fin non-continuous single rib. Any advantages? Need a little education before getting my first sand tires. Answer to this question may help me deceide what brand of "V" style rear paddle to buy and from whom. May get all 4 tires/wheels from same place and the same brand. Quote
Wallrat Posted March 1, 2004 Report Posted March 1, 2004 I couldn't tell you the differences between the tires you mentioned, but I can give you my opinion of the Sand Stars. They rock. Plain and simple. Great all around dune tires for the banshee. I wouldn't worry too much about durability, sand tires last forever. Quote
oldturtle Posted March 1, 2004 Author Report Posted March 1, 2004 Thanks WR. I was leaning toward sandstars and you have now got me convinced it's a good set up. Quote
Leadfoot350 Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 The skat trak ones weigh less. I ordered them but have not tried them out vs the single rib ones I have right now. I am going to sell the ones I have now if I like the skat trak ones. Quote
DUNEDEMON Posted March 2, 2004 Report Posted March 2, 2004 The front and rear sandstar tire set is by far the best general dune set up I have ever ran. The rear tires are great, tremendous bite, easy to slide. The front tires respond quicker to steering input than other single rib front tires I have used. Bottom line, get the sandstars and you won't be disapointed. Quote
Ducman Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 Yeah the sand stars are definitly getting popular too because I had a set of sand star rears for 10" rims that I ordered from rockey Mountain knowing that they were on back order and waited for 1 month. Finally I got sick of waiting and went to the 9" rim size just because they had them in stock. If they are as good as most people say then they are a great value and just over $50 each for the rears. Only $330 for a full set of 4 on ITP T-9 rims. I should have them by this weekend. Quote
theeechozen1 Posted March 12, 2004 Report Posted March 12, 2004 I got away with 185.00 for a full set with 20x9's on the back. Gotta love those little girls that work at Champion Honda! The fronts bite very well and on a steep hill I thought it was easier to whip the bike around and keep the front planted and pivot it around, get the stars Quote
ledofthezep Posted March 12, 2004 Report Posted March 12, 2004 Only $330 for a full set of 4 on ITP T-9 rims. I remember paying $550 for a full set of 4, SkatTrak 9 paddle haulers on 10's & front mohawks all on douglass blue label .160's. But then again, that was about damn near 5 years ago. Quote
