Hey guys~

My Banshee is a 92 with less than 10 hours on it. My dad bought it and never rode the thing. Finally, he's getting a Rhino and giving the sweet machine to me.

In the short amount of time he did ride it, he noticed a hose would puke coolant all over the front exhaust pipes. We located the hose, on the right side, that ran back to the coolant tank in back. We figured it might have been a bad head gasket, so we replaced that. We also tried a new radiator cap just to be safe. Nothing.

We found out this is a common problem with Shee's. So, we just need to know how to fix it? Any help?!

Thanks!!!

Either reroute hose, or move the tank up front so it will be lower. Try some coolant additive or high performance coolant like Engine Ice to keep temps down, also a new Prodesign water impeller will help.

id just ditch the over flow bottle entirely and route the over flow hose straight down to the bottom of the bike. also alot of times if a head is leaking water into the cylinder u will get back pressure on the radiator which will cause an overflow the head gasket doesnt have to be blown just leaking for this to take place. so if its still doing it ride it till it starts and check to see if the radiator cap has back pressure and if it does most likely your head is leaking water into the cylinders

ok its a comon problem but!

It will usually do this only after hard raceing or just on the gas for long times.

Check this. Start you shee and open the radiator cap. WHEN ITS COLD NOT HOT!

Rev it up and look at the anti freze. It should be moving at the top of the radiator when you reving it up.

If not your pump is not working.

You need to take off your clutch cover after draing everything. In the cover there is a gear that got to hot . Your impeller is probabbly fine but the gear will melt this little metal pin it rides on clean out the melted plastic from the bearing your impellar rides on and replace this gear and your good to go. fill it up and watch the water move in the radiator.

Your shee is getting too hot and the radiator cap is doing its job.

Mine use to do this and flow out the overflow. I left the drain run on the pipes like its supose too. This way you know something is wrong like the pump gear.

Dont get me wrong if I run up olds at Glamis too many times in a row I will get a little but you can tell shee is hot and needs to sit a the bottom of the hill for a cold one

Good luck

How much coolant is it losing? Is the overflow bottle empty after one ride or does it take a few days worth of riding before it empties out? When you put the radiator cap on did you clean the sealing surfaces before you replaced the cap?
