I havent gotten to do this yet or even see it but by looking through the Clymer's it appears that there is a bearing retainer that must be removed first by either using Yamaha's SST YM-01327 or making something similar using a 30mm nut and bolt.

I CHANGED MY LOWER STEERING BEARING AND SEALS LAST SUMMER

YOU GOT TO POP THE TOP SEAL OUT

DONT PLAN ON SAVING THE SEALS THEY ARE CHEEP ANYWAY

UNDER 20 BUCKS FROM THE STEALERSHIP

UNDER THE TOP SEAL THERE IS A NUT

WELL KIND OF A NUT ITS LIKE A INSIDEOUT NUT

THE THREADS ARE ON THE OUTSIDE AND THE PART THAT YOU GRIP WITH A TOOL IS ON THE INSIDE

THE CORRECT TOOL WOULD BE A REALLY BIG ALLEN WRENCH

I DID NOT HAVE A ALLEN WRENCH THAT BIG

SO I FOUND A OLD BOLT WITH A HEAD ON IT THAT WAS THE EXACT SIZE THAT I NEEDED

WELDED A NUT ON THE END AND SPUN IT OUT WITH A WRENCH

HOPE THIS HELPED

P.S WHERE DO YOU LIVE IN MAINE
