MILO Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 i've been wanting to do mine too. once some of the grill gets broken, it looks like shit. i'd rather just cut them off, since they can't really do much good for protection anyway. i think they only there for the baja look. i'm debating about getting some cascade "eyes" covers for it though. won't be able to keep them clean for long though, so i think they'll just be for show and clean day riding. but i'll still probably get out the dremel and trim off the grill. Blue Duece Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 heres how mine came out stan...... Quote
Cotton eyed Joe Posted January 30, 2004 Author Report Posted January 30, 2004 Well I did one, and then got my new headlight in, and Yamaha changed them a little, but its enough that you can tell I've got 2 different headlights. So, I'mma order the other one tomorrow, and do it too. I think they look a hell of a lot better with out that pos grill on there. Quote
Yamahammer Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 i did mine and i used a torch to hit the edge when i was done like you do to the plastics after you cut them and it hid the spots real well Quote
Meat Posted February 2, 2004 Report Posted February 2, 2004 ahh dont cut em !! they're valuable. You can sell a nice set of stock headlights on ebay for $75-100 bucks. Sell your stock lights and then go to AutoZone and get a set of 35 watt tractor backup lights. They only cost $20, they dont have the grills and if you'd see em on a Banshee, you'd never know they're not stockers. Even those Madeyes light covers fit on em perfect. And as a bonus they put out a better beam than the stock lights can, they have better reflectors and I think the bulbs are superior. Iv been using these autozone lights for years now and never had a problem with em. And side by side brightness compared to a banshee with stock headlight, the Autozones are brighter and the beams cast a perfect light. Quote

Which lights provide more of a flood beam the stock ones or these auto zone ones? I'm tempted to toss some 5 watt LED's in them and angle them to the side for some flood lighting in the dunes. I figure the 5 watters should be about as bright as the stock headlights, maybe a little less, but far superior in bulbs and light quality, especialy for how much power they draw. Let me know thanks, JI Quote
Cotton eyed Joe Posted February 2, 2004 Author Report Posted February 2, 2004 LOL TOO LATE MEAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Damn it.... Do you know what brand? I don't feel like fabricating another bracket right now, so how did you mount yours? I might go that route, get a set for back up..not backing up.... lights incase one of mine gets grenaded by a rock. Quote
. Posted February 2, 2004 Report Posted February 2, 2004 I cut mine off the first time I went snow riding at night and went to clear the lenses off and couldnt because of that stupid ass grille holding all the ice. I dont see those plastic grilles doing much of anything from a rock being kicked up from someone in front of you. Quote
