Hey guys,

 

I just called our local cyclesports shop and I'm looking into rejetting my banshee and I already have the new jets and needles. They told me that it would cost $140 to have them do that for me. Now I have many friends that can possibly help me out but it wouldn't be anytime soon and I wanted to go riding this weekend so I was curious to see how much it would cost. Do you think that price is a joke for rejetting? Is it that hard to do? Is it possible to do by yourself with the instructions on the banshee jetting faq page? I printed it out and it doesn't seem to be too hard so I'm just curious to what you guys think.

thats nuts but an average price.look through the jetting forum and most likely youll see a settup like yours and just try it.i like to stay on the rich side if in a pinch,better to have fouled plugs and a little less performance than a wiped top end.

yes you can do it by your sealf surely if your just doin the mains just take off the flot bowl and there they are

Dont pay the 140 bux if you are confident you can do it. We'll help you, its not that hard. Just need your temp., elevation and mods. Someone here will square you away, and you'll be done with it till spring/summer and you'll know how to do it. Oh, buy a Clymer repair manual, you'll be happy you did.

Don't waste your money. 140 bones will buy you a variety of cool mods for the shee instead of giving it to that shop. Like those guys said, you can do it. It's easy. If I can do it so can you.

Don't spend the money on them, they will probably get it wrong anyway! Do it yourself by using the jetting page and if you have any problems let us know, we'll be glad to help and the price is right!

Thanks guys! I knew it was a ripp off and so I might as well learn since I do have the clymer manual and the instructions from the banshee jetting faq. If I need any help I'll let you know. I can't wait to go rip it up again!

Ok so I have one more question. I bought the new jets and needles came with it so what exactly are those for? Sorry if this is a stupid question....

For sure do it yourself, if you have any problems along the way just post it here and someone will help out.

 

I'm guessing you got a jet kit if you got needles, they will replace the stock needles on the carb slides. They may or may not help but you can try them and see how it runs...jetting is just a matter of trial and error so you'll end up trying different settings (do one circuit at a time) and seeing what works best.

 

BTW did you do any mods or is it not running right? Just curious since you just said you wanted to rejet without any further explanation. Good luck.

You can do it! Getting the carbs on/off and putting the needle back on the slide is a bitch the first time especially by yourself and with the stock TORS. The learning curve is steep but if you do it only once the next time is sooooo much easier and you will surely need to rejet again someday. $140 is just 2 shop hrs, not unreasonable but still a lot of dough to waste. And don't forget to reconnect the choke tube between the carbs. I swear it gets everyone the first time out. I knew about it but I still did it!
