jumpman23 Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Hello, I have installed a new front/rear sprocket with a new chain, and my question is how much should I tighten the chain? Is it bad to have it too tight? It's currently not that loose or too tight so I think I'm good but I was just wondering. Thanks Quote
ledofthezep Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 not that loose or too tight That's always been my theory...haven't had any issues yet. I'd give yourself about an inch to an inch 1/2 of play. I don't have my bible on me to get you the exact specs.... Quote
wheeleymaster99 Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 you want to leave a little slack cuz when your rear shock compresses your chain thghtens if its a new chain put the adjusters in all the way befor you cut it so you can tighten it as it streches Quote
reas11 Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 sit on the bike leave alittle slack from when u sit on it the chain stretches out alittle, when u get on the beast .. Quote

Blue Duece Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 Thanks guys. I wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something. take a tie down from your axle to grab bar and compress your shock, then get 5/8's of slack in your chain..you cant go wrong Quote
