Switching out stock pipes with Toomey T5s

Awaiting arrival of Toomeys T5 kit and getting my '97 Banshee all cleaned up. My old pipes have an exhaust shield attached to the stock pipe. Is that used or needed with the new pipe setup? A few pictures on the internet with the T5s doesnt indicate any heat shields. Just curious as I was going to take them off, sand them and re paint them but if they dont go back on, there is no reason to. Thanks,

No… The stock heat shields will not work with the Toomey T5’s. You will just have to learn how to ride with your legs spaced away from the pipes or you’ll learn a hard lesson really fast. Most likely ever Banshee owner has burnt themselves on their calves or legs at least once or twice in their lifetime while riding.
