Banshee0028 Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 Ok, need to remove chain to clean...Got the clip off, but the link wont come apart? Have tried to pull it but its not moving...Looks as if the ends of the pins are bigger than the hole on the link? Quote
Motoman991 Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 take a hammer and a little chizzle and put the chizzle on the pin and hammer it. If u dont need the chain anymore just take a grinder 2 it, it will be off in about 30 secs that way Quote

Cotton eyed Joe Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 pry with a flathead... Exactly. Basically you are just pulling the master link plate off. Once its off, just kind of wiggle the thing around and it should come off. I've had mine off and on about 12 times in the last week. When you put it back together don't worry about the oring staying on the link. Just put in on there somewhere, press the link plate back on and put on the retaining clip. One good rule to remember is if its too hard, you're doing it wrong. Quote

Blue Duece Posted January 2, 2004 Report Posted January 2, 2004 i allways sqeeze mine off with vise grips....and for sure back on with them..... so the clip completly catches the pins.....make sure the closed part of the clip goes with the travel of the chain..... Quote
