Experimental fuels

Recommended Posts

So I’m rebuilding my whole top end soon this month maybe I’ll get to it “bigger bore” , I figured id experiment or really just kill my current Topend, But think I might be on to something here. I work in a laboratory so I have access to the equipment that allows me to play around a bit. I’m normally running vp110 with 17cc domes. Stuff is super expensive. So to Avoid pre det, I played around in the lab with pump gas and Various solvents, mineral base oils, kerosene and pump diesel. I found few mixtures that worked great but not really feasible. I’m looking  vapor pressure, flashpoint pcc, viscosity cst 0-100c ect, btu, energy density.
I take home small amounts about 1l each. And ran them. Most of the time I’m running hot or just crap power or even cause engine runaway. But to my surprise one mix above all others ran great so much so I refilled the tank rode all day everything  ran awesome and seemed to run much cooler and just super strong.  8.5% #2 diesel to 87 pump gas no ethanol or fame.  30:1 synthetic 2stroke oil. I sharing not to encourage anyone to try this I don’t recommend not at all. Different locations and times of year fuels will have different properties.
