BenBB Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 I dunno for sure what years it covers, it came out of my Clymer. It's accurate for my '96, but you're right the later years had an extra wire coming out of the CDI (purple I think). Not sure what it does, I got a Dyna CDI for mine that had that extra wire, I just taped it off and it runs fine...hope this helps. Quote
itsmyforte Posted December 16, 2003 Author Report Posted December 16, 2003 thanks for the additional info, makes things much easier when you know more about the products your installing. Quote

The extra wire on the 97- is connected to the parking brake switch, which is used to provide a much lower rev limit with the parking brake on. One the 97- Dyna ignition, this is used as the input to the programmable launch limiter. This wire is not installed on the pre 97 Dyna ignitions, since there is not parking brake switch on them.
